About the event
Film + conversation examining how Philadelphia’s past and present continue to shape the American story.
Join us at the Philadelphia Ethical Society on Monday, October 26 for a special screening of Episode 7: Renewal from In Pursuit: Philadelphia and the Making of America.
This episode follows Philadelphia through the Great Depression, World War II, and the sweeping urban renewal efforts that reshaped the city in the decades that followed. Through stories of political change, racial inequality, housing, redevelopment, and figures including Albert M. Greenfield and Edmund Bacon, Renewal asks audiences to consider who benefits from progress—and what can be lost when a city remakes itself.
Following the screening, guests will be invited to stay for a conversation exploring the episode’s themes and their continued relevance to Philadelphia today.
